When Cleaning Fits Better Than Treatment Alone
Roof cleaning is the conversation to start when moss has formed thicker patches, loose material is sitting on the shingles, or leaves and needles have collected around valleys, roof edges, and gutters. Growth that releases appropriately may be removed by hand or soft brush. Moss that remains firmly attached should not be scraped aggressively just to create an immediate cosmetic result.
Scattered or returning growth may need treatment rather than a larger cleaning scope. Treatment works gradually after application; it is not the same as physically removing established material. The guide to roof cleaning versus roof moss treatment explains the difference before you request an estimate.
