Cleaning Method
How We Cleaned the Driveway and Front Sidewalk
The driveway was cleaned with a controlled pressure washing approach suited for exposed aggregate. On textured concrete, the point is not to blast the surface into looking new. The better result is an even clean that removes surface buildup while respecting the age, aggregate, cracks, and edges already present.
Edges received extra attention because the photos show moss packed along the hedge side, the planting-bed border, and the seams. The front sidewalk needed similar detail work where wet soil, shrubs, and shade kept sections damp. Those tight edges usually take more care than the open middle of the driveway.
One thing that stood out on this project was the contrast between the broad driveway panels and the narrow sidewalk route. The driveway had a large dark surface and visible moss seams, while the sidewalk had smaller problem areas tucked beside landscaping and a utility cover. Treating the whole front approach the same would have missed the spots where moisture was actually feeding the growth.
Local Context
South Beaverton Concrete Stays Damp Around Shrubs and Slopes
South Beaverton has many established residential streets with tall trees, hedges, sloped lots, and planted front yards. Around neighborhoods near Murrayhill, Sexton Mountain, and the south side of Beaverton, concrete can look fine in summer and then darken quickly once the wet season settles in.
For homeowners comparing driveway cleaning options, the photos from this project show why the surrounding landscape matters. The surface did not age evenly. The hedge side, sidewalk edges, and joints held the most visible moss because those areas stayed wet longer.
